State “listening session” Oct. 14, new preliminary Metro information online

In about a month, Metro will be announcing a proposal to make major service cuts because of our funding shortage. We’ve managed to preserve most service over the past five years—in large part by working together to cut costs. But some temporary funding runs out next June, so we have no choice but to plan service reductions that would begin in fall 2014.

You can see updated preliminary information about the impacts of a countywide reduction on our website.

In the meantime, bus riders can share their views about transit and other transportation needs with Senate Transportation Committee members at a public forum on Monday in downtown Seattle.

Where and when
Monday, Oct. 14, 6-9 p.m.
NEW LOCATION: Seattle First Presbyterian Church, 1013 Eighth Ave., Seattle

This “listening session” is part of a statewide tour hosted by the Washington State Department of Transportation.

  1. I live on the #61 bus route in Ballard. As a senior citizen without public transportation, I would have to walk great distances to carry my groceries, and go to doctors appointments. I really depend on this route – even if it was revised to possibly 1 trip / hr instead of 2 trips / hr
