D Line stops are under construction

Metro began construction for bus stop improvements on the RapidRide D Line route in March. We’ve completed work and installed new RapidRide shelters at several stops, in Belltown and elsewhere along the route. We’ll start work on the largest stations in July. This work will include installing new bus bulbs in the Uptown area and along 15th Avenue NW in Ballard.

The photos below were taken this morning as a crew worked on new concrete at 15th Avenue NW and W Dravus Street in Interbay.

  1. I wonder who made the decision to take away one of the lanes on 15th Ave NW just to build those bus stops?

  2. Won’t this will have the effect of reducing 15th to one lane during peak traffic hours?

  3. Oh, not just one lane. They’ve basically taken 2 lanes, since the buses need to stop in the center lane now, meaning that cars can only use the far left lane unless you want to come to a complete stop every other block. Oh well, I need to ride my bicycle more anyway. I think that was probably the underlying point. “Get out of your cars.”

  4. FAUNTLEROYWAY AND CALIFORINA WHO GOT THE BIG BUCKS TO DO THIS STUDY AND DESIGN THIS STOP LIGHTS GREEN AND THERE’S A BUS HOLDING UP TRAFFFIC
