Next Tuesday, Jan. 10, the Metropolitan King County Council’s Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee will continue its discussion about Metro Transit’s recommended service changes for June 2012.

The committee meeting will start at 9:30 a.m. in the King County Council Chamber on the 10th floor of the King County Courthouse (516 Third Avenue in Seattle). Members of the public are welcome to attend. There is no public testimony scheduled at this committee meeting. To request a language interpreter or accommodations for persons with disabilities, please contact Kendall Moore at kendall.moore@kingcounty.gov by this Friday (Jan. 6).

Alternatively, you can watch committee proceedings online at: http://www.kingcounty.gov/kctv.aspx

At a meeting on Dec.7, the committee heard both a briefing from Metro staff on the proposed June ordinance and testimony from the public. The committee is expected to refer the ordinance to the County Council for consideration and a final decision this month.

The June service change ordinance does not include any changes related to the start of the RapidRide C and D lines in September 2012. Separate Council meetings will be scheduled for these changes later this year.

  1. I noticed that route 72 is not mentioned in overcrowding reduction in response to the deletion of route 79. 72 and 79 are the only routes that go directly to where I live (89th and Ravenna) from downtown. I started riding the 79 because I can usually get home a little more quickly than on the 72 (I call it the slow boat). Also, the 72 is usually standing room only from Westlake Center all the way through the U District (including last week, a “holiday” week).
